South Ohteursk field gives hope to others

SOUTH OHTEURSK LICENSED AREA is located in Alexandrovsk area of Tomsk region in the central part of Alexandrovsk megalithic bank. The field was discovered 16 years ago. When calculating the reserves in 1996, and when making a development plan in 2001, the oil reserve was undervalued. Geological structure of the deposit was not taken into account. It was one of many and not outstanding deposits of Vasyugan-Alexandrovsk megalithic bank system.

Over the past two years, the volume of oil production in the South Ohteursk field has increased 10 times 

DURING THE LAST FIVE YEARS a license to develop the field belongs to "South Ohteursk" Ltd., 100% of which since 2005 belongs to "Rusneftegaz" holding, which is a part of "Stroyprogress" Group. The program, developed by "Rusneftegaz", provided year-round road construction, backfilling and construction of new well pads, a complex of sealing and repair works in old wells, drilling of new development wells and reaching an annual production level of 120-140 thousand tons.

IN VIEW OF NEW GEOPHYSICAL DATA, "Geoneftegaz" specialists (Moscow) tested geophysical and petrophysical materials to minimize the risk of drilling marginal wells. OJSC "TomskNIPIneft" is creating an addition to the technological scheme of the field development and operational restatement of reserves. It is assumed that after the operational restatement, extracted reserves of C category will make 1200-1300 thousands of tons per year. Although the final restatement is possible only after completion of the field additional exploration and drilling of new wells program, there is a reason to believe that the recoverable reserves while maintaining the adopted calculation parameters may be about 2 million tons of oil per year. The company plans to achieve result of 1 million ton by 2015.

Our task: to increase amount in the same way by 2012, and to bring total oil production at all mines up to 1 million tons per year by 2015

THIS BREAKTHROUGH, which has led to a revival of the deposit, has been made possible through a systematic approach to studying it, through new methods of scientific data analysis, new methods of production intensification.
